Hi! I'm Annette Hernández,
Also known as Lunaire Étienne.
I like to dwell on different themes through my drawings, generally portraying female characters, elements of nature and fantastic settings, using vibrant colors or delicate pastel tones as a medium, sometimes adding playful touches or using humor. ​
The styles that I like to explore the most in my illustrations are the Japanese concept “Kawaii” (Japanese term to describe the various emotions that are evoked when seeing something cute or delicate) and the "Coquette" aesthetic style (fashion trend distinguished for its romantic, feminine and eccentric aesthetic, whose greatest inspirations are some artistic icons such as Sofía Coppolla's “Marie Antoinette”, Jane Austen's novels and the Rococo art style). ​
Being an artist, both digital and traditional, my objectives are to consolidate myself in the art community, putting into practice all the knowledge acquired during my professional career, always with a work ethic and a sense of social responsibility, but above all, I aspire to share my shenanigans and connect with people through art.
A bit about me...
I am a full-time artist and illustrator from Baja California, Mexico. I was born on November 12, 1990, in the small northern town of Mexicali, a border city distinguished by its rich blend of Chinese, Mexican and North-American cultures, alongside an enigmatic desert landscape.
Since I was a girl, I've been passionate about fiction books, fantasy video games, and animation, which inspired me to draw, write, and overall, to continue creating as I grew older. ​
Art has always been an important part of who I am from the beginning, which eventually led me to do a bachelor's degree in plastic arts in college, graduating with an honorific title back in 2015
Over the years, my profession led me to gain experience and educate myself in several fields of art, such as museography, teaching, being a speaker at conferences, designing and teaching workshops at cultural events and, of course, as an independent creator.
Career.
Over the years my profession has taken me to diverse group exhibitions, both in my home city and in other states of the country, allowing me not only to exhibit my work but also share it by attending several cultural events.
